Walk into almost any fast food eatery, and you’ll see verification of the increasingly common belief THAT large sizes are greater. Both fast food restaurants, and upscale dining establishments stack food high on their customers’ plates and also passionately encourage their customers to upsize their drinks and fries.

Lots of websites have taken the “bigger is better” speculation to heart, as well. Superstores like Overstock.com and big stores like Wal-mart have sites consisting of thousands upon thousands of web pages. And you know what they are doing rather well for themselves.

It may look like a waste of your time to try and get a piece of the pie, when there are so, so, many countless large sites online. The normal human being doesn’t have the time or money to set up such a big operation, or even try to continue it. On the other hand you don’t have to. In a land of Internet giants a mini site can flourish .

The big guys have nothing to fear from a mini site, because a mini site doesn’t directly compete with them. Instead of trying to be all things to all people, a mini site simply seeks to do well in a small niche. In this setting, in a sense, smaller is far better.

A good and very successful mini site goes after a little but underserved niche. They find a need that other websites doesn’t care about, and they promote those products and services. This puts them into a position to get better rankings in the search engines, “A search engine is a website that people use to search the Internet for products, services and information” and because the keywords that individuals use to find their offerings are not often targeted by webmasters of larger sites. With some good SEO, (SEO is the abbreviation of the term “Search Engine Optimization”. This is a procedure by which a website owner can make his website more search engine friendly), they can get targeted traffic at very little expense.

The sales letter grabs their attention, once the visitors are at the mini site, and hopefully, convinces them to buy your product. Those who are on the fence may sign up for a newsletter or free course. This offers the chance to stay in touch and persuade them to purchase later on.

Even with millions, and millions of other web pages online, a mini site can hold its own. You just need a good finicky niche section of the population where you intend to focus your marketing efforts, a quality product and a strong sales pitch that will resolve your customer problem.
